About the Role

We are seeking a Social Media Manager & Communications Specialist to oversee Saro Magazine’s digital presence, audience engagement, and communication strategy. This role is ideal for a creative, organized professional with experience in social media management, storytelling, and cultural communications. 

The successful candidate will manage social media accounts, craft engaging content, and coordinate communications that reflect Saro Magazine’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute social media strategy across platforms (Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.)

  • Create, schedule, and monitor engaging content, including posts, stories, reels, and campaigns

  • Collaborate with editorial, creative, and events teams to amplify content and brand initiatives

  • Manage audience engagement, respond to messages/comments, and foster online community growth

  • Monitor social media analytics and generate reports to inform strategy and measure success

  • Draft and distribute press releases, newsletters, and other communications materials

  • Coordinate brand messaging and ensure consistency across digital platforms

  • Stay current on social media trends, tools, and cultural conversations relevant to Black creativity

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in social media management, digital communications, or content strategy

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills

  • Familiarity with social media analytics and management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Buffer)

  • Creative, strategic, and organized with the ability to manage multiple projects

  • Knowledge of Black cultural trends, arts, and creative industries

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote or hybrid environment
