About the Role

Saro Magazine is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Visual Editor to shape and oversee the magazine’s visual identity across digital, print, and social platforms. This role is ideal for a creative leader with a strong editorial eye, deep understanding of visual storytelling, and the ability to translate cultural narratives into compelling imagery.

The Lead Visual Editor will work closely with editors, photographers, designers, and brand partners to ensure all visual content aligns with Saro Magazine’s aesthetic, editorial standards, and mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain Saro Magazine’s visual direction and aesthetic across all platforms

  • Curate, edit, and approve photography, video stills, illustrations, and visual layouts

  • Lead visual planning for editorial features, fashion stories, covers, and special projects

  • Collaborate with writers, editors, and creative directors to translate editorial concepts into visual narratives

  • Commission, manage, and provide creative direction to photographers, stylists, designers, and visual contributors

  • Ensure consistency, quality, and cultural integrity across all visual content

  • Oversee post-production processes, including image selection, retouching, and final delivery

  • Manage visual assets, archives, and usage rights in line with licensing agreements

  • Partner with brand and commercial teams to align sponsored or branded visuals with editorial standards

  • Stay informed on trends in fashion, art, photography, and digital media

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Visual Editor, Photo Editor, Art Director, or similar role

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating editorial, fashion, or cultural visual storytelling

  • Deep understanding of visual composition, typography, and layout principles

  • Experience working with photographers, stylists, and creative teams

  • Proficiency in industry-standard tools (Adobe Creative Suite, digital asset management systems, etc.)

  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

  • Commitment to ethical, culturally responsible storytelling
